One of my connections with 20k followers suddently lost their profile on LinkedIn after making a comment on a connection’s post that was reported! Yes, it does happen. It was a scary few hours.

In this article, I’ve included 3 options for contacting LinkedIn:
If you are logged into your profile
If you can’t access your profile, what can you and your community do
BONUS: What you can do to try and protect yourself.

1. How to raise a ticket with support: (if you are logged in)

If you need help with LinkedIn, the first thing to do is to check the help centre, which has a ton of helpful articles. You can find this from within your profile.

How to access LinkedIn Help
Go to the Me icon on the top toolbar
scroll down to Account, and you will see Help just below Settings & Privacy (see the red circle)

Once you click on Help, choose to open in a new window.

There is a search bar and also some shortcuts for the most common questions that have been asked, as well as recommendted topics and also suggested articles.
Here is the link to the Status Page: https://www.linkedin-status.com/ BOOKMARK THIS.

Got an issue with LinkedIn?

You might be having an issue, something just isn't working as you expect it to, or it just isn't working or loading for you.

It is always worth checking the status page before raising a ticket with support.

The status pages gives you information about the availability of products and services.

For Premium Users:

If you have a Premium Subscription you can chat with support.

This option appears when you have clicked on Help.

If it is is out of hours (think time zones) then it won’t show as available (see the red arrow).
Raising a ticket

If you can’t find what you are looking for, then raise a ticket with support, this route is for when you have access to your profile and are logged in.

You can see my profile photo on the blue bar in the screen grab below, which shows that I am logged in.

Click on the link below, and then click on ‘Other’, and then start typing what you need help with in the box that appears

If the ‘Other’ option isn’t showing for you, then click on this link instead to raise a support ticket:

Once you have submitted a ticket, you will receive an automated response by email, usually within 24-48 hours.

You can check on the status of your tickets by going to cases:

2. How to contact support if you don’t have access to your profile

If you have been locked out of your profile, I’m sorry this has happened to you. Not knowing what to do or how to contact someone to help can be scary and frustrating.

There are two things to do:

You can raise a ticket without being logged in.

A friend can raise a ticket with support for you. They will need to be logged in and go to the form.

THEY WILL NEED THIS INFORMATION FROM YOU:
First and Last name
At least 1 of email, phone number and profile URL
The reason that you have been locked out (there is a drop-down list to choose from)

BONUS: You or a friend can also contact LinkedIn Help on X, @LinkedInHelp The profile also has a link to a contact us form to complete.

3. What to do, to try and protect yourself

There are a few things you can do to try and make sure this doesn't happen to you, but if it does you are in a better position.

Contact details: Check that your contact details on your profile are up to date. I often start to work with clients who have an old email address they were using when they first set-up their profile that they don’t have access to anymore, so make sure it’s up to date. Go and check this today.

2FA: Make sure that you have 2 factor authentication (2FA) set up on your profile for additional security. To do this, go to the Me icon on the top toolbar, then ‘Settings & Privacy’, then ‘Sign in & Security’ and then ‘Two Step Verification’ which is under ‘Account Access’ Go and set this up today.

Bookmark: Be sure to bookmark these useful links so you have access to them. I've added BOOKMARK THIS by every link.

Community Guidelines: Make sure that you aren’t doing anything that goes against LinkedIn’s community guidelines. You can read them here: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/professional-community-policies BOOKMARK THIS

A list: Build an email list so your business is not solely reliant on a social media platform..
Your Data: Download your LinkedIn Data:

Diarise to do this regularly. To do this, go to the Me icon on the top toolbar, then ‘Settings & Privacy’, then ‘Data Privacy' and ‘Get copy of your data’ which is under ‘How LinkedIn uses your data’ and you can choose between larger data or something more specific (see screen grab opposite).
Let’s summarise.

It is scary when you or one of your friends loses access to their LinkedIn Profile. It’s part of your business and reputation, and you want to know what to do quickly.

In this blog, I’ve explained what you and others can do and how to contact LinkedIn. PLUS what you can do to try and make sure that it doesn’t happen to you, but if it does, you haven’t lost everything.

Thank you!
